Simple Tips for Saving Laptop Battery Life While Travelling
We would never dream of rationing daily smartphone, or tablet use because there’s always a power socket or USB close at hand, but keeping batteries topped up and working well while on holiday is not so simple. With that in mind here are our top tips to squeeze as much use as possible out of your mobile device between charges.
Keep It Cool
If venturing to a hot country, the change in temperature is going to have a serious impact on any battery-powered device. Keep phones and tablets out of direct sunlight and heat if possible.
Change The Charging Routine
When the device is plugged in, make sure you unplug it as soon as the battery meter reads 100%. Keeping a phone or tablet charging any longer creates heat build-up which in turn will damage the Inspiron N5010 Laptop Battery‘s longevity.
Adjust Settings
Dimming a device’s screen brightness will increase battery life, as will turning off Bluetooth wifi and GPS. Try using a standard ringtone rather than vibrate and make sure that when an app is not in use it isn’t left open. Unless closed down completely it is still running in the background and therefore putting strain on the device’s processor. If your phone or tablet has a sleep setting, set it for the shortest interval so that it shuts down within 30 seconds of use. Also, don’t use it as a watch: clicking on the homekey or standby key just to check the time can drain the battery.
Pack The Right AC Adapter
Make sure that no matter where your vacation takes you, you have the right cables to charge up notebooks when they’re running low on laptop battery power.
Alternative Energy
If the destination is sunny, then invest in a solar charger. The Solio Classic 2 only needs a day in the sun in order to deliver sufficient energy to fully recharge a smartphone three times. Compatible with any device via USB, it can also top up a tablet from 50% to 100% Toshiba satellite p200 laptop battery life.
Install A Battery-Saving App
Manually adjusting settings will save battery power but it can be laborious as can switching everything back on again when it is needed. Using an app, such as the Du Battery Saver app for Android or the Battery Saver for the iPhone will do all of this automatically and can even re-educate users as to when to charge a device and for how long for preserving its useful life.
Consider A new Spare Laptop Battery
There is a growing choice of cases and protective covers on the market for iPhones, and one or two with a built-in top up battery are starting to roll out for the more popular devices. The Mophie Juice Pack Air, for example, can add another 36 hours of use to an iPhone, while iWalk has a number of battery cases and external units that are compatible with both Android and Apple handsets.
