You will see fermented soybean instead of the black bean on the label, that is because the manufacturer correct the Chinese to English translation in the newly design label to best describe how the soybeans are processed instead of the color of the soybean in the chili sauce.

The black bean in Chinese means the fermented (processed) soybean. The color of soybean turn to black after the fermentation. It is not the raw black bean as we mean in US and Australia.
